Privacy policy
How we collect, use, share and protect your personal information.
This privacy policy applies to Australian Inspection Association Pty Ltd (ACN 647 806 755, ABN 22 647 806 755) trading as All Clear Inspect ("All Clear Inspect", "we", "us", "our").
We respect your privacy. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and this policy explains how we manage the personal information we hold about you. We review it from time to time to reflect changes in the law, technology and how we operate. The current version on this website always applies.
Open and transparent management (APP 1)
We have practices, procedures and systems in place to comply with the APPs, including a process for handling privacy questions and complaints (see Complaints below).
Anonymity (APP 2)
You can ask general questions without identifying yourself or by using a pseudonym. To book and carry out an inspection, though, we need to know who you are and the address of the property.
What we collect and how (APPs 3–5)
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide our inspection and reporting services. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:
- your name, phone number, email address and best time to contact you
- the property address, whether you are the owner, property manager or tenant, and property details such as roof type, solar panels and access information
- storm, damage and insurance claim information you choose to share with us, such as approximate storm dates, claim status and insurer correspondence
- photographs, video, drone imagery, measurements and notes taken during an inspection
- records of our calls, emails and SMS messages with you
- basic website usage information collected through cookies and analytics tools (see Our website)
We collect most information directly from you, for example when you complete a form on this website, call us, or meet our inspectors on site. We may also receive your details from a referral partner (such as a builder, agent or property manager) where you have given them permission to pass your details to us. If we receive personal information we did not ask for and could not have collected ourselves, we will destroy or de-identify it where lawful and reasonable to do so.
If you don't provide the information we ask for, we may not be able to arrange an inspection or prepare a report.
How we use your information (APP 6)
- to respond to your enquiry and confirm whether we are inspecting in your area
- to book, carry out and report on property inspections
- to prepare licensed building reports, including review and sign-off by a licensed builder
- to provide your report to you, or to someone you nominate such as your representative, repairer or insurer
- with your consent, to refer you to appropriately licensed claim management specialists, repairers or testing providers
- to ask for your feedback on our services (answering is optional)
- to run, improve and secure our business and website, and to meet our legal obligations
Who we share it with
We only disclose your personal information for the purposes above, where you have consented, or where required or authorised by law. This may include:
- the licensed builder who reviews and signs off our reports
- specialists you ask us to refer you to, such as licensed claim management companies, repairers or testing providers
- people you nominate to receive your report
- service providers who help us run our business, such as CRM, phone and SMS, email, website hosting and IT providers, who must keep your information confidential
We do not sell your personal information.
Direct marketing (APP 7)
We will only use your personal information to send you marketing, such as storm alerts, news or offers, where you have consented or would reasonably expect it. Every marketing message will tell you how to opt out. You can also opt out at any time by emailing [email protected] or replying STOP to an SMS.
Overseas disclosure (APP 8)
Some of our service providers, such as cloud-based CRM, email and website hosting services, may store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure those providers handle your information in a way that is consistent with the APPs.
Government identifiers (APP 9)
We do not use government-issued identifiers (such as a tax file number or driver licence number) as our own identifier for you, and we do not disclose them except where required by law.
Quality and security (APPs 10–11)
We take reasonable steps to make sure the personal information we hold is accurate, up to date and complete, and to protect it from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Our staff and contractors are required to keep personal information confidential. When we no longer need your information for any lawful purpose, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information you send to us online.
Inspection photos and video
Photos, video and drone imagery taken during an inspection are used to prepare your report and support any claim or repair process you choose to pursue. We will not use images that identify you or your property's address in our marketing without your permission.
Our website
Our website uses cookies and similar tools, which may include Google Analytics and advertising pixels, to understand how visitors use the site and to measure our advertising. This information is generally collected in a way that does not identify you personally. You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Our enquiry forms use Google Maps to suggest matching addresses: what you type in the address field is sent to Google for this purpose, under Google's own privacy policy. Our website may also display content from, and link to, third-party sites such as Facebook and Instagram. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
Accessing and correcting your information (APPs 12–13)
You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days. If we can't give you access or make a correction, for example where the law requires us to keep a record, we will tell you why in writing.
Complaints
If you think we have breached this policy or the APPs, please email [email protected] with details of your concern. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
